    Cleaning other species is a life style called “cleaning symbiosis” and it helps both the cleaner and the cleaned. The fish is probably a remora http://www.oceanlight.com/html/remora_sp.html

  8. Originally named Dryhump Back Whales, it was quickly recognized that the name made no sense since whales frequently dwell in wet environments, so the name was changed to Humpback Whales. As the name implies, they will hump anything. Seasluts are a copycat specie, since they will also hump anything that doesn’t float. The Goth Seasluts will also hump anything, even if it is floating belly up. Hope this helps. Marine biology can be so confusing to the layperson.

  11. troobador999 says:

    Humpback Whales are threatened with extinction due to the treatment of their species by humans. Back in the 19th and 20th centuries whaling was a sport commonly found in the country of Iceland. As time moved along more and more countrys joined the fad. Japan, The United States, and Iceland were the first to be recorded in whaling. Pirates also whaled. Whales were captured and brutally killed for meat and oil. {More information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whaling}

Experts say the new whale could be the offspring of Migaloo but further tests need to be carried out… Migaloo is an albino humpback whale and not a subspecies of humpback whales. There is not a separate population of white humpback whales, just rare occurrences within the humpback whale specie. http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/13006 Humpback Whale…he available population estimates total more than 60,000 animals…

    And then they travel south to north in six months. They are going from feeding ground to feeding ground. Those locations are seasonally weather-dependent.

  19. chelseae says:

    good questions maybe cause the water temp.

  20. tentofield says:

    In the southern hemisphere they do it the other way round. They migrate north to the tropical waters to give birth and breed and then migrate south to Antarctic waters to feed.

  21. Similar to birds, humpback whales migrate seasonally for reasons of feeding and reproduction. The colder northern waters have the richest food supply, however it is too cold for young calves (baby whales), so the adults migrate to warmer waters to give birth, raise the young calves, and breed. Once the calves have grown enough and gained enough blubber to insulate themselves, the whales head north to feed again.
